About the club
Since 2009, NC State students from many majors have learned by designing, building, testing, and flying high-powered rockets.
Built around hands-on learning
The club began in 2009 through NASA Student Launch. In 2013, a partnership with Aerospace Engineering Senior Design added experienced upperclassmen, stronger technical leadership, and mentorship between graduating seniors and newer members.
Members contribute to structures, recovery, aerodynamics, electronics, software, payloads, outreach, operations, and sponsorship.

Competition
Work across a complete launch vehicle and payload, from requirements and reviews through testing and flight.
Experimental
Develop ambitious independent rockets, electronics, composites, controls, and reusable systems through WolfWorks.
Personal flight path
Build and fly your own rockets while learning safe construction, launch preparation, recovery, and certification.
Looking toward IREC
Beginning in 2026, the club is transitioning toward the International Rocket Engineering Competition. The change expands opportunities for electronics, programming, advanced payloads, and higher-performing flight systems.
Industry partnerships and sponsor support help the team take on bolder designs while keeping participation accessible to students.
